Live

Dust to dust; Ash to ash
They say life goes by in a flash
I'm sure it does; I have yet to know
But I really hope it isn't so
There is too much to savor,
Too much to love,
And though I trust
In Heaven above,
I want to stay here as long as I can
Doing good wherever I am.

Death

This past Halloween, after 2.5 years of knowing the end was coming, 2.5 years hoping for a miracle that we mostly knew we wouldn't get, and one week of preparing for an end we were still trying to forestall...we lost my mother.  The morning of October 31st, 2016, I walked into my parents' house, and my dad - who had probably hugged me a total of around 4 times in my life - threw his arms around me and told me my mom was gone.

Please pray for her, and pray for my dad and my siblings, pray for me, and for my granddad, who has now laid two daughters to rest. Please pray for our entire family. We are still struggling, still trying to figure out how our family works now without its heart. We are doing better than we are, but some days are harder than others. This past week has been hard, and, as Mother's Day approaches, the rain pours harder and harder. Please, pray for us, and, if you still have your mother with you, hug her every day, hold her hand if you can, tell her you love her, and do whatever you can to show her how much you appreciate her giving her life for you. Because they deserve that happiness, that peace, that joy.

Spend Mother's Day with your mom if you can - talk to her, at least. Send her or do for her something extra special. Don't let that day go unnoticed. Love your mom. And ask God to help you to show her how much she means to you.

God bless you all, and thank God for Easter! Mommy, I hope the people who say you're in a better place are right. I hope you are resting in peace with the Lord. I love you.

A Simple Prayer for Autism

Lord, to you I pray, for parents of children with autism, that they may hear what their children do not say, and always do what is truly best for them. Grant them patience, O Lord. Amen.
